Shan Tisk One Bio
His career thrived first and foremost in spaces of counter culture. Through graffiti and tattooing, he found his footing in the Edmonton arts community, in which he has been active for more than 18 years.
Tisk has approached his artistic development with an avid growth mindset. This ultimately led him to pursue more traditional art education where he not only discovered a love for oil painting, but found a space in which to grow as a multi-disciplinary artist. Likewise, his development within the tattoo industry led him to discover within the tattoo industry led him to discover his passion for traditional Japanese subject matter.
It is this intersection of work ethic and passion that his Japanese Whiskey series developed. The series takes into the consideration the liminal spaces between tattooing and traditional mediums, breaking down the barriers that would hold them apart at the expense of growth.
